Michalak eyes return to Euro

2011-11-01 13:00

Durban - Frederic Michalak wants to return to Europe in order to make an international comeback for France, the Sharks flyhalf said on Tuesday.

Michalak, this season's Currie Cup top scorer with 192 points, left Toulouse in May to sign for the Sharks where he also played one season in 2008.

"I know they would like to extend my contract but I want to come back to Europe next summer because I want to play with Les Bleus again and that is easier when you play in Europe," he told French sports daily L'Equipe.

Michalak, 29, won the last of his 54 caps against Wales in the 2010 Six Nations Championship.

After Saturdays performance and he's cheap shot tackle on Jantjies I would put him on the first plane back:):).............

Well, if he goes, Lambie will slot back into #10. The Sharks looked a whole lot better when Lambie slotted in at #10 in the Currie Cup. WE will then have to find a good fullback. Prinsloo from the U21's looked good, maybe if he is given time to settle there, he will be good. BIG concern is a centre - the weakness all through 2011. Stephan is gone now, which leaves Bosman (who was starting to blossom towards the end of the season), Joubert (who I beolieve is passed it) and Jacobs (who has been messed around on and off the bench. I believe that if he is given regular game time to start, he will get better and better. I see they are luring Whitehead from WP - let's see. If Mc Cleod is fit and back, he will make a difference. They will also have a tough job deciding between Alberts and Deysel Deysel is not a lock, and if you need a fetcher-type flank, then Botes must be the choice. This leaves Daniel out in the cold - sorry. Locks - Hargreaves must get back to fitness and form, then he and Skeat can make a great combination, with Skeat taking the "enforcer" role. Front row settled. I would like to see Plumb try Kankowski at centre. I think he used to play there as a youngster, which will leave room for Alberts to settle at #8 and Deysel to settle at #7. So how does this look - 15 Prinsloo. 14 Pietersen. 13 Kankowski. 12 Bosman. 11 Mvovo. 10 Lambie. 9 McCleod. 8 Alberts. 7 Deysel. 6 Botes. 5 Skeate. 4 Hargreaves. 3 Mtawarira. 2 B DuPlessis. 1 J Du Plessis. Bench TBD later.

Danny what are you smoking dude? Kanko at 13? He must be the most over rated player ever. He was nowhere in the final. Michalak is also past his due date

      Andre - 2011-11-01 13:31

rather dont announce your bench. Coz you can't tell the difference between tighthead and loosehead. Beast is a loosehead and Jannie a tighthead. pfffft

      Andrew - 2011-11-01 13:34

Sharks just signed Tim Whitehead from WP, another exciting up-and-coming player. I'd also prefer to leave Lambie at FB, whilst he gets the line going at FH, I think FB is his best position.

      Byron - 2011-11-01 13:42

remember we have bought Riaan Viljoen already

      DieKriek - 2011-11-01 13:48

Riaan Viljoen will be joining from Griquas, and you seem to have forgotten all about Louis Ludik there. Take nothing from Prinsloo, he's a great player, but I'd love to see him step up in the Vodacom- and Currie Cup before he gets exposed to Super Rugby. I agree with Lambie at #10, that boy has the ability to be a much better flyhalf than even Dan Carter, he just needs to get regular game time there, so he can focus on and perfect that position. Kanko at Center is madness, pure madness, but it just may be madness we need. Another switch I'd make is putting Alberts at #4, and Keegan Daniel at 8. I believe Alberts has the go-forward power, and pure size we need in a #4, and Daniel's high work ethic, and blossoming leadership is too big an asset. So my 15 would be: 15: Viljoen 14:Pietersen 13:Whitehead 12:Bosman 11:Mvovo 10: Lambie 9: McCleod 8:Daniel 7:Deysel 6:Coetzee 5:Hargreaves 4:Alberts 3:J du Plessis 2:B du Plessis 1:Mtawarira

@Danny – You make so much good sense that they’ll never listen to you. In every game that Lambie has gone from FB to FH the game has turned around and in some cases we have gone from losing to winning. If Plum was worth his salt we would have noticed that. Joubert has been good for at least one penalty in his last three games and was even on a warning, he’s not good, just reckless. The idea of Kanko at centre is an interesting one. I like the idea of Daniel not being in the side at all because I think his on the field leadership is terrible. If decisions don’t go his way he just gives up playing and he brings the whole team down.
