'Liefling' back at Loftus

Cape Town - Former Springbok flyhalf Derick Hougaard is set be appointed in a coaching capacity at his old team, the Bulls.

An Achilles injury has halted the career of the former "Liefling" of Loftus and according to the Beeld website, Hougaard is close to signing a coaching deal with his former union. From next year he will work as a kicking consultant for the union's junior teams.

Hougaard, 29, played for the Bulls from 2002-2007 before heading to England where he represented Leicester for two years before joining Saracens in 2009. However, he hasn't played any rugby since 2010 due to the injury.

Hougaard played eight Tests for the Springboks between 2003 and 2007.
