Lengthy break for Warburton

London - Wales captain Sam Warburton is likely to be sidelined for "several months" after dislocating his shoulder against Scotland, his club side Cardiff Blues said Wednesday.

The flanker suffered the injury during the closing stages of Wales' record 51-3 thrashing of Scotland at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on Saturday.

After the match, Wales' concluding fixture of the 2014 Six Nations Championship, national coach Warren Gatland said Warburton was set to miss the rest of the season and the two-Test tour of South Africa in June.

Warburton joined Cardiff Blues, Wales and British and Irish Lions colleague Leigh Halfpenny on the injured list after the full-back damaged his shoulder making a try-saving tackle a week earlier in a 29-18 loss against England at Twickenham.

"Following MRI scans and consultations with specialists, Warburton will have an operation and is expected to miss several months of action," a Blues statement said.

"Everybody at Cardiff Blues wishes Sam and Leigh all the best during their rehabilitation."
