Johannesburg - Former Springbok rugby player Joost van der Westhuizen has never met faith healer TB Joshua, a family representative said on Wednesday.

"Joost van der Westhuizen has never gone to Nigeria to meet this prophet and he hasn't engaged with him and he hasn't sought his help," family representative Odette Schwegler said.

"If he had, that wouldn't be a problem, it's just he hasn't."

Earlier media reports stated that Van Der Westhuizen had approached Joshua for assistance.

At least 67 South Africans, and dozens of other people, were killed when a multi-storey guest house at Joshua's Synagogue Church of All Nations in Lagos, Nigeria, collapsed on Friday.

News agencies reported that over 100 survivors had been rescued.
