Japan-based Boks on TV

Cape Town - Springbok rugby fans will be able to see some of their heroes in action in the Japanese league.

According to Die Burger's website, pay-channel SuperSport will broadcast the two semi-finals this weekend.

The Panasonic Wild Knights, for whom Bok wing JP Pietersen plays, will take on the Toshiba Brave Lupus on Saturday.

On Sunday, a bigger South African contingent is involved when the Kobe Kobelco Steelers host Suntory Sungoliath.

Flyhalf Peter Grant, centre Jaque Fourie and lock Andries Bekker play for the Steelers, while Fourie du Preez is Suntory's scrumhalf.

"We decided to broadcast the Japanese league as a trial because several South Africans are involved," said Sandile Luthuli, a spokesperson for SuperSport.

"We want to see how good the league is. It's only a trial and we'll see how it goes before considering a long-term relationship."

Both games will be aired from 06:55 on SuperSport 1 and HD.
