Cape Town - Former Springbok centre Brendan Venter believes Elton Jantjies's expected move to the Stormers for next year's Super Rugby competition will be major boost for the Cape side.
With the Lions not playing Super Rugby next year, Jantjies is looking to join another South African team on loan for the Super Rugby season, with the Stormers largely tipped as the favourites to pen a deal with the Bok flyhalf.
And Venter feels Jantjies can provide that spark the Capetonians have been missing in big games which has seen them unable to win the competition, despite coming close over the last three seasons.
"The Stormers need to go from a good organised team to one which can win the series. It's got nothing to do with their game plan or focus on defence, but rather with individuals," he told Die Burger.
"Are their halfbacks good enough to take them to the next level? If you don't change you'll never know. The only way to find out is to contract players from elsewhere."
Venter feels Jantjies is a complete player, just what the Stormers need. "His general skills are very good. He already has two seasons of Super Rugby under his belt, WP will get a well rounded player with this transaction."
Venter says he would also pick Jantjies as the Springbok flyhalf for their next Test against Ireland in Dublin on November 10.
Jantjies's former coach at the Lions, John Mitchell, also feels he will add huge value to Allister Coetzee's charges.
"Elton will be fantastic for the Stormers. He can give them another dimension, because his playing style is very different to that of Peter Grant," said Mitchell.
Jantjies will apparently announce on Wednesday what Super Rugby team he'll represent next year. He will return to the Lions after the Super Rugby competition.
