Jacobs set to leave Sharks

2011-11-22 12:00

Cape Town - Springbok and Sharks centre Adi Jacobs is set to leave the Durban-based franchise and seek greener pastures.

Jacobs enjoyed a frustrating season at the Sharks in 2011, where he found himself behind Marius Joubert, Stefan Terblanche and Meyer Bosman in the pecking order, and also missed out on Springbok selection for the Rugby World Cup.

Jacobs's team-mate JP Pietersen let the cat out the bag when he tweeted on Tuesday: Morning Tweeps. Sad news this morning. My friend/dad Adi Jacobs is leaving the Sharks. All the best on your new journey.

It is not immediately known where Jacobs will continue his career.

He is old enough and a perfect candidate for the Stormers. We only buy backline players anyway. Gatvol Stormer supporter.

Well, JP said it best when he called Adi his "dad". Maybe it's time to hang your boots up and join Ashwin on the TV? (only joking about the TV-bit).

My man u dnt kno rugby. Hw many line breaks did he make nd get us ova the advantage line. Stats dnt lie, he was the best centre inside and outside. Watch the games again nd u'll realise wat we losing.

As far as I'm concerned we're now losing our best center..... Good luck AD

Agree with you, the only Sharks centre with the ability to penetrate a defence. I'll still never understand why he did not get more game time, Bosman and Joubert were less than convincing. Must have been a personal issue, nothing to do with lack of talent. I understand why he would want to leave the Sharks, I hope he gets more game time at his new franchise so he can show the Sharks what fools they were not to use him. The guy was a natural playmaker, sad.

      Heiku - 2011-11-22 13:36

Yeah Plumtree is a plonker. End of story.

      Kosie - 2011-11-22 15:02

it's not plum, it is straulli decides who plays for the sharks

      Tebogo Shabalala - 2011-11-22 22:38

Glad to kno there are ppl who kno and understand rugby. The best distributing centre the Sharks had, next season will be a disaster.

      Tebogo Shabalala - 2011-11-22 22:49

Once again the Sharks shoot themselves in the foot. Letting go of a fantastic player, Brad Barrit, Waylon Murray, Rory Kockott. Clearly Plumtree has a problem

  • Ruan - 2011-11-22 23:16

.....good luck Adi- you served the SHARKS well.....just a pity you didn't get more game-time.....all the best !
