Ex-players turn to refereeing

Cape Town - Two former rugby players have decided to become referees.

According to the SA Rugby Referees website, former Western Province wing Egon Seconds and SA women's player Aimee Barrett have taken up the challenge.

Seconds represented Western Province from Under-17 level and went on a Springbok A tour to Argentina and played Springbok Sevens from 2001 to 2007, while Barrett first represented Western Province at Under-15 level and went on to captain the Springbok Women’s team, playing 15s, Sevens and SA Women’s Touch Rugby.

Both joined the Western Province Referees’ Society this year and are already working their way through the grading process.
