Former All Black joins Clermont

Clermont-Ferrand - Losing Top 14 and European Cup finalists Clermont on Monday announced the signing of ex-All Black wing Hosea Gear on a two-year contract.

The 31-year-old, capped 14 times by New Zealand, joins the French club from Super Rugby outfit, the Chiefs.

Gear has some experience in France, having played one season, 2013/14, for Clermont's rivals Toulouse.

Clermont said their recruitment drive for next season was now over, having already signed wings David Strettle and Adrien Plante, flank Camille Gerondeau, lock Flip Van der Merwe and fullback Scott Spedding, while wing Waisake Naholo was still to sign his deal.
