Ex-Springbok Visagie dies

Cape Town - Former Springbok and Natal halfback Gawie Visagie passed away on Wednesday morning after a long battle with cancer.

He was 59-years-old.

Visagie played at scrumhalf and flyhalf for Natal in the 1980s and also represented the Springboks on two occasions.

Visagie was nominated for SA Rugby Young Player of the Year in 1979.

The Sharks, former Proteas spinner Pat Symcox and ex-Springbok flank Rob Louw were all quick to convey their condolences on Twitter on Wednesday.
