Cape Town - Former Springbok hooker Gary Botha, who was recently sued for R1m by a sports management company, has won the legal battle against him.
ABC Sports Management wanted €79 200 (R1m) from the former Blue Bulls hooker after they claimed he broke the contractual agreement he had with them when he signed for French club, Toulouse, in February 2011.
ABC claimed they had signed a two-year agreement with Botha on October 5, 2009 to exclusively represent him.
Botha then signed a three-year deal with Toulouse in February 2011, before reportedly cancelling his contract with ABC via e-mail on March 28, 2011.
The company wanted compensation from part of that contract Botha signed with Toulouse.
Botha's legal representative, Adv. Lafras Uys, last Monday appealed to the Pretoria High Court to dismiss the claim.
And on Friday the court ruled in favour of Botha.
One of Beeld newspaper's reporters revealed the news via Twitter.
"Oud-Springbok #GaryBotha het die saak teen hom gewen. ABC Sportsmanagement se eis van die hand gewys, (Former Springbok #GaryBotha has won the case against him. ABC Sportsmanagement's claim is turned down.)," J.M. Versluis tweeted.
The 32-year-old Botha, who played 12 Tests for the Boks, is still plying his trade with the French giants.
