Deon Carstens forced to retire

Cape Town - Stormers prop Deon Carstens has been forced into retirement due to an ongoing back injury.

Carstens, 33, who joined the Stormers from Saracens in England for the 2012 Super Rugby season, played five matches for the Cape franchise.

Carstens also played 84 times for the Sharks and has 10 Springbok caps to his name, and won the Currie Cup on three occasions (twice with the Sharks - 2008, 2010 - once with Western Province - 2012).
