Venter back to lead Cheetahs

Cape Town - Free State Cheetahs coach Franco Smith has named his team for Friday’s Currie Cup clash against the Pumas in Nelspruit.

Smith has made a few changes to the team that beat the Golden Lions 37-29 in Bloemfontein last Thursday night.

Captain Francois Venter is back after an injury layoff, replacing William Small-Smith in midfield, with Nico Lee moving from outside to inside centre.

Rayno Benjamin moves to left wing in place of the injured Raymond Rhule, with Sergeal Petersen back in the side at right wing.

Up front, there’s a complete change to the front row.

Johan Coetzee replaces the injured Tom Botha at tighthead prop, Jacques du Toit replaces Torsten van Jaarsveld at hooker and Charles Marais come in for Ox Nche at loosehead.

Friday’s clash at Mbombela Stadium is scheduled for 18:40.
