Sharks star Sithole crashes car - PICTURE

Cape Town - Sharks backline star S'bura' Sithole has escaped serious injury after crashing his sponsored Audi S3 in the early hours of Thursday morning.

RescueCare spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said that medics had attended the scene on Masabalala Yengwa Avenue.

Sharks spokesperson Novashni Chetty confirmed that Sithole had been driving his sponsored car.

"We are aware he (Sithole) was involved in an accident. A tyre burst and his car flipped," she said.

"He was not under the influence of alcohol," Chetty added, without being prompted.

“From our side we are just really pleased that he is okay, that nobody else is hurt and that there was no alcohol found in his system”.

It is believed that the accident happened at around 05:00.

The Sharks could not confirm where Sithole was traveling to.

Sithole, 26, has played 33 Super Rugby matches for the Sharks and was part of their Currie Cup squad that failed to make this season's semi-finals.
