Cape Town - Tighthead prop Carlu Sadie will play for Western Province in this year's Currie Cup after the Cape union and the Golden Lions couldn't agree terms for his signature.
The 22-year-old was loaned to the Lions during the 2019 Super Rugby competition and it is believed that the Lions wanted to sign him on a permanent deal.
However, according to Afrikaans newspaper Rapport, WP had requested R2 million, but the Lions were only willing to pay R600 000.
As such, Sadie was last week included in WP's squad for the upcoming Currie Cup season.
The Capetonians open their campaign against the Blue Bulls at Newlands on Saturday (July 13).
Head coach John Dobson and his management team have been working with a wider squad of 36 players, ahead of a campaign that will see them face the Bulls, Golden Lions and Pumas at Newlands, with away games against Griquas, Sharks and Free State Cheetahs.
Following the league phase of the competition which will see all seven teams play six games each, the top four will go through to the semi-finals, with the final scheduled to be played on Saturday, September 7.
