Cape Town - Springbok and Golden Lions prop Julian Redelinghuys has undergone a successful operation to his neck after he injured it in the Currie Cup semi-final against the Free State Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
Redelinghuys sustained a dislocation of his neck at C5/6 level after he collided with Cheetahs hooker, Torsten van Jaarsveld, in the 44th minute.
Golden Lions team doctor, Rob Collins, confirmed that Redelinghuys would in all probability be allowed to go home later in the week.
"Julian's operation went well on Sunday morning. He had a fusion at C5/6 level. If all goes well, he should be able to return home later this week," said Collins.
Whether Redelinghuys makes a return to rugby remains to be seen.
