Cape Town - Irish club Munster have confirmed the signing of utility back Jaco Taute on a short-term loan from Western Province.
According Munster’s official website, Taute - who can play centre and fullback - joins them on a four-month loan basis, subject to being granted a valid work permit.
Due to injuries to Francis Saili and Sammy Arnold, Munster's director of rugby Rassie Erasmus decided to call on the services of Taute to bolster their options available in midfield.
Sport24 reported last month about Taute’s intended departure to Munster and he has not featured for Western Province in the Currie Cup in recent weeks.
The 25-year-old became a Springbok in 2012, but his career has been blighted by injury since joining Western Province from the Lions in 2013.
He’s had more than four serious injuries since joining the Cape side, which has seen him represent them in only 23 Super Rugby games.
