Lions confident Bok lock will face Cheetahs

Johannesburg - The Golden Lions are expecting Springbok lock Marvin Orie to be available for Saturday’s Currie Cup clash against the Free State Cheetahs at Ellis Park.

Orie and hooker Corne Fourie sustained concussions in their side’s 38-35 win over the Blue Bulls in Pretoria last weekend, but the Lions announced on Tuesday that both players were expected to be cleared for selection.

The Lions added that tighthead prop Johannes Jonker was the only other injury concern.

He is experiencing weakness in his left arm from a stinger suffered against the Bulls and will undergo a fitness test on Thursday to determine his availability.

Saturday’s clash is scheduled for 17:15.
