Cape Town - Griquas coach Brent Janse van Rensburg hailed his team's response as they comprehensively beat the Blue Bulls at Loftus on Saturday.
The men from Kimberley thrashed their more fancied opponents 37-15 to stay on top of the Currie Cup table with them having played four games so far this season.
What made the victory even sweeter for Van Rensburg was that his side had got a mauling of their own the week before after they were undone 68-14 by the Free State Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.
"It was a good response coming off last week, you worry about draining the mental energy in the group after a game like that," Janse van Rensburg said about his team's turnaround.
"So it was nice to see the guys stand up and fight."
With only two rounds of the Currie Cup league phase remaining, Griquas are in a prime position to reach the semi-finals and will be thinking that they can clinch a last four spot at their home ground.
Van Rensburg added: "I certainly believe we have the potential to get to a playoff, everyone has the belief within the group, and it is certainly something we would like to achieve.
"We also appreciate in a short competition like this things can change pretty dramatically from week to week. We are far away from it, and we still have two games to play, and we need to be accurate."
Griquas have a bye this weekend before they host Western Province on August 16.
