Currie Cup set for WP v Sharks final - bookies

Cape Town - This year's Currie Cup final will be between Western Province and the Sharks, if bookmakers are to be believed.

The 2018 tournament semi-finals take place on Saturday with the Sharks hosting the Golden Lions at 14:30 and then Western Province taking on the Blue Bulls at Newlands at 17:00.

And, a look at local bookmakers Sportingbet suggests that the final will feature the country's two major coastal sides, as was the case in 2017 when WP beat the Sharks in Durban.

The Sharks are 2/5 favourites to beat the Golden Lions, who are outsiders at 37/20. The handicap, meanwhile, has the Sharks winning by 7 points.

The odds for the second semi-final are staggering, with Western Province coming in at 1/20 favourites to beat the Blue Bulls, who are 8/1 underdogs. Handicap-wise, Sportingbet has WP to win by a massive 19 points.

If everything goes according to plan, the final will take place in Cape Town given that WP finished top of the log with six wins from six in 2018's shortened format.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
