Currie Cup playoff schedule changed

Cape Town - This year's Currie Cup Premier Division semi-finals and final will be moved back by a week to avoid any potential clashes with the Rugby Championship Test between the Springboks and All Blacks in Durban on Saturday, October 8.

The semi-finals were initially scheduled to be hosted on October 7 and 8 respectively, and the final a week later, on Saturday, October 15.

The semi-finals will now move to the following weekend, while the Currie Cup Premier Division final, as well as the SA Rugby Under-19 and Under-21 Championship finals, will all be played on Saturday, October 22.

The Currie Cup First Division and the SA Rugby Under-20 Championship finals remain unaffected and will still be played on Friday, October 7.

The Sharks are currently second on the Currie Cup log with just one match remaining this regular season against the Golden lions in Johannesburg on September 30.

If they win that match, then a home semi-final is likely. If they lose, however, then they could miss the semi-final altogether.
