Bosch remains 'back-up' flyhalf for Sharks

Cape Town - On Saturday afternoon in Kimberley, Curwin Bosch will get a rare run at flyhalf when the Sharks take on Griquas in a Currie Cup clash.

Despite being a natural playmaker and one of the most highly-rated young flyhalves in South Africa, Bosch has had to be content with runnig out at fullback with the Sharks backing Robert du Preez at No 10 instead.

This weekend, though, coach Robert du Preez has moved his son across to inside centre to accommodate Bosch at flyhalf.

It seems likely, though, that this is just a once-off move and that Bosch will be moved back to fullback for next weekend's semi-final in Durban.

"We obviously wanted to give Curwin a run at No 10 ... he is our back-up No 10," coach Du Preez said from Durban on Thursday.

"We thought this match would be a good opportunity for him and hopefully he plays a full game at 10 for us."

Du Preez added that he was keen to see how Bosch and Robert du Preez jnr work together as a 10/12 combination,.

"It's something that we want to have a look at, to see Rob at No 12," Du Preez explained.

"He has played there before and he probably brings something a little bit different to Marius (Louw).

"It is certainly a combination that I would like to see, but having said that we know what we have in Marius and he always gives 150%."

Kick-off on Saturday is at 15:00 and the Sharks will go to the top of the Currie Cup table, temporarily, if they win with a bonus point.
