WP unscathed after solid win

Cape Town - Western Province coach Allister Coetzee has reported no major injuries after their impressive 45-21 Currie Cup win over Griquas.

WP won in convincing fashion against a Griquas team which came to Cape Town full of confidence on the back of three successive wins.

Coetzee on Sunday said a few players suffered "bumps and bruises" but everyone that played on Saturday will be up for selection this coming weekend when they host the table-topping Golden Lions.

In other injury news, No 8 Nick Koster (knee) will make his full return to training this week, while flanker Rynhardt Elstadt (rib) will be re-assessed on Monday and could be available for selection a week earlier than initially anticipated.

Also, flanker Tyrone Holmes is back from his one-week suspension and will be available for selection again.

Coetzee said they will have a low-key start to their preparation for Saturday's big game.

"There will be no field training tomorrow at the HPC (High Performance Centre), the guys will do analysis on their own and we will start our field training on Tuesday. We all know that it's been a long season, and it's certainly not over yet, so we need to manage the guys - a lot of whom are young and have had a tough workload in recent weeks.

"I was really happy with the effort against Griquas but we know that the Lions will be a different proposition for us - as they showed against the Sharks last night."

The clash against the Lions at Newlands kicks off at 14:00 on Saturday.
