Cape Town - Western Province will keep rotating their scrumhalves to find the best balance between attack and defence in this year's Currie Cup.
Backline coach Robbie Fleck told Die Burger they want a more attacking dimension from their No 9s.
"We'd like to see our scrumhalf pose a threat at the breakdowns and take the game to opponents. The Stormers' attacks were too sideways at times during the Super-series," said Fleck.
Dewaldt Duvenage was the main culprit in the Super Rugby competition, with many pundits believing he lacks an extra dimension in his game.
The WP brains trust gave Duvenage a break last week, with Louis Schreuder and Nic Groom doing duty against Griquas in Kimberley. But Duvenage is back in the mix this week, replacing Groom on the bench while Schreuder keeps his place in the starting team.
However, in accordance with the new rotating policy, Duvenage is expected to start against the Blue Bulls at Newlands next week, with Groom then coming in on the bench.
Fleck said he was pleased with Schreuder and Groom's efforts in the 25-20 win in Kimberley last week, and admitted they're working on improving Duvenage's all-round game.
"In the last few rounds of Super Rugby we paid a lot of attention to Dewies's (Duvenage) attacking game. He's not a running scrumhalf by nature, but he's kick-and-pass game is very good. The other two (Schreuder and Groom) have to get at the same level in those departments," said Fleck
