WP, Bulls joint favourites

Cape Town - Western Province and the Blue Bulls are favourites to contest this year's Currie Cup final, if local bookmakers are to be believed.

Bettingworld.co.za has installed the two arch-rivals favourites for the competition, marginally ahead of the Sharks in third place, followed closely by the Lions and Cheetahs, with Griquas listed as rank outsiders.

WP and the Bulls can be backed at 5/2, with the Sharks at 33/10, the Lions 5/1, Free State 13/2 and Griquas 35/1.

WP are the defending champions after beating the Sharks 25-18 in last year's final.

The 2013 Currie Cup season kicks off on Friday, August 9 with a match between the Sharks and Griquas in Durban. Kick-off is at 19:10.
