UCT pivot debuts for Griquas

Cape Town - University of Cape Town flyhalf Dean Grant will make his debut for Griquas when they tackle the Pumas in a Currie Cup game in Nelspruit on Friday.

Grant, 25, has been included to start at flyhalf for the game at Mbombela Stadium.

He replaces Francois Brummer, who moves to fullback following an injury to Nico Scheepers.

Sport24 last month reported that Grant was in Kimberley on a trial basis in the hope of playing Currie Cup rugby.

Flank Ruaan Lerm will also make his debut for Griquas, while backline reserves Doppies la Grange and Niel Marais could also make their first appearances for the men from Kimberley.

Griquas are still without a win in this year's comeptition, having lost their first two games against the Sharks (home, 24-31) and Cheetahs (away, 27-34).

Friday's game is scheduled to start at 19:10.
