Sharks receive Kankowski blow

Cape Town - The Sharks received a big blow with the news that eightman Ryan Kankowski has been ruled out of action for at least four weeks.

Kankowski broke his thumb during the Sharks’ loss to the Golden Lions in Johannesburg on Saturday.

"It's a big blow for us," Sharks coach John Plumtree told SAPA.

The Sharks have tough couple of weeks ahead, and Kankowski's loss could prove vital to their cause.

They face the Blue Bulls at Loftus Versfeld this weekend, while a tough trip to Bloemfontein against the Cheetahs awaits on September 17.

In other injury news, captain Keegan Daniel rolled his ankle at training on Tuesday, but it is expected to be ready to face the Bulls on Saturday.

What - did Kanko dish out blows for the whole Sharks team?

  • Travis - 2011-08-30 20:56

That is a pity. He has been playing well, and the Springbok loss is the Sharks gain. Looking forward to getting him back on the park.

@Anneleen, seems to me your team is picking up injuries as fast and furious as does my team (WP). I believe there is truth in the old saying: "Only the brave dies young", which converts into "only the brave gets injured"! Nevermind, girl, your team will still teach those little bull calves a rugby lesson comes the weekend!

@Kleinboet...thanks for your comment! How are you doing today? And thanks for the "brave" part...enjoyed that! What are your thoughts about Western Province vs Griquas?

      Kleinboet - 2011-09-01 02:26

I believe the WP/Griquas game is going to be another close encounter. We have talented youngsters, but they are just that - youngsters - and need more experience' Myself? Doing just fine, thank you!
