Pollard to train with Bulls

Pretoria - Vodacom Blue Bulls flyhalves Handre Pollard and Jacques-Louis Potgieter will rejoin the team's training session on Tuesday to prepare for the final Absa Currie Cup match at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

Pollard (soft tissue foot) and Potgieter (contusion) sat out training on Monday, but will be available for the final pool match against Griquas.

Kick-off is at 19:10.

Rudy Paige (hip flexor muscle), Dean Greyling (calf), Jono Ross (ankle), Callie Visagie (back muscle) and Deon Stegmann (contusion) also sat out Monday's session, team doctor Org Strauss confirmed.

All of these players will be back on the field on Tuesday and available for selection.

Jurgen Visser (foot), Pierre Spies (bicep), Arno Botha (knee), Frik Kirsten (neck), Jaco Visagie (knee), Flip van der Merwe (knee) and Hencus van Wyk (leg) are still on the long-term injury list and out for the season.

The Blue Bulls, currently in fourth spot in the standings and unable to finish any higher than their current position, may well have to beat Griquas to reach the playoffs.

Should the Pumas beat the EP Kings on Friday night in Port Elizabeth, and  the Free State Cheetahs topple to the Golden Lions in Johannesburg on Saturday (17:05), the Blue Bulls will need to beat Griquas to avoid missing out on a trip to Newlands to tackle WP in the semi-finals.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
