Cape Town - Sharks coach John Plumtree says he may not pick some of his Springboks returning for this weekend's Currie Cup action.
The Sharks take on Griquas in Kimberley on Friday.
SARU on Monday released a group of 23 players involved in the Springboks’ preliminary Rugby World Cup squad to do duty for their provinces in the Currie Cup this weekend.
Adrian Jacobs, Patrick Lambie, Charl McLeod, Lwazi Mvovo, Odwa Ndungane, Alistair Hargreaves and Ryan Kankowski will be available for selection.
However, Plumtree says he is more than happy with the current crop of players at his disposal.
“I’m hoping we’ll get some reinforcements back to be able to give us a bit of a boost, but I’m really happy with the way this group is going, so if they can prove to me that they can keep playing like this, then some reputations might be sitting on the bench or not even playing, and that’s what you want,” Plumtree told Sharks website editor, Michael Marnewick.
“We’re pretty comfortable with this 22 at the moment. Unless there are some injuries, I don’t think I’ll be changing too much and they’ve got to keep proving to me that they can do it. Griquas is always a tough challenge for us, but it’s how we adapt and what we throw at them that really counts.”
