Cape Town - While admitting that Sharks flyhalf Patrick Lambie is a massive threat, Western Province coach Allister Coetzee says they'll make a mistake to only focus on one player in the Currie Cup final on Saturday.
Lambie was instrumental two years ago when the Sharks beat WP 30-10 in the final at Kings Park which will make the Capetonians wary of a possible repeat performance on Saturday. Lambie also produced a strong display in the semi-final last week, when he completely overshadowed the Blue Bulls' Morné Steyn in 20-3 victory.
"He is a gifted player who immediately pounces when there's an opportunity,"Coetzee told Die Burger's website.
"He currently plays above what is expected of him after getting little game time (at the Springboks) over the last few months. His core skills are very good and he always has time to weigh up his options."
But the WP coach was quick to point out that they cannot only focus on one player against a team full of international stars.
"A player like Lambie is a class act and as opponents there's not much we can do about that.
"We'd rather focus on the opponent as a whole and make sure that our plans are in place. We can't worry about Lambie alone because the whole Sharks team is a very powerful one.
"We also know that they have a strong contingent on the bench and that includes a Springbok or two," Coetzee told SAPA.
The final at Kings Park kicks off at 17:00 on Saturday.
