Cape Town - Western Province scrumhalf Nic Groom will not be available for their Currie Cup clash against the Free State Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Friday.

Groom has been allowed to play for the Barbarians against Samoa at London’s Olympic Park this weekend and will therefore be unavailable for the Cheetahs clash.

With Groom away for this week, Jano Vermaak is expected to start at No 9 against the Cheetahs with either Louis Schreuder or Godlen Masimla on the bench.

Kick-off for Friday’s clash at Free State Stadium is scheduled for 19:10.
