Cape Town - Griquas winger Jannie Boshoff will appear before a SARU Judicial Officer after he was cited for a dangerous tackle during their 42-3 loss to the Sharks in Durban over the weekend.

The hearing, administered by Adv Jannie Lubbe, will take place in Bloemfontein on Tuesday at 18:00.

Boshoff was cited by citing officer Deker Govender after his side's final Currie Cup game of the season.

He allegedly breached of Law 10(4) (J), which states: “Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground whilst that player’s feet are still off the ground such that the player’s head and/or upper body come into contact with the ground first is dangerous”.

Griquas finished fifth on the Currie Cup log to escape the dreaded promotion-relegation playoffs.

Unbeleivable that the tackle was not seen as serious by the ref who did not issue a red or yellow card! The ref should also be cited and given a punishment for poor performance!

...and the linesman. if they gave a yellow then they saw it, so why not a red?

Serves as a warning against unacceptable play of this nature. The ref and linesman would not have had the benefit of replays to call it. Give him a guilty verdict & a two game suspension and let's move on.Let's certainly not taint his career.

That tackle could have broken the player's neck and left him paralysed, so let's rather not just move on.
