Elstadt treading carefully

Cape Town - Western Province lock Rynhardt Elstadt says he will be more careful in future after serving a three-week ban.

Elstadt, 24, will start at lock for WP when they tackle the Free State Cheetahs in a Currie Cup clash in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

He sat out the past three weeks because of suspension after barging dangerously into a ruck in a game against the EP Kings.

"It's nice to be back," he told the WP Rugby website. "I take the suspension on the chin. It's one of those things. (But) I'll have to look at those things because I will be a marked man.

"I'm trying to be more mature when it comes to my rugby. I also want to be part of other scenarios, rather than just cleaning out rucks and tackling."

Kick-off for Saturday's clash at the Free State Stadium is scheduled for 14:00.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
