Drotské wields the axe

Cape Town - Free State Cheetahs coach Naka Drotské has made several changes to his team for their Currie Cup clash against Western Province in Bloemfontein on Friday.

Drotské made four changes and one positional shift from the team that lost 50-26 to the Sharks in Durban last week.

Wing Raymond Rhule, loose forward Davon Raubenheimer, lock Waltie Vermeulen and prop Rossouw de Klerk all paid the price for below-par performances against the Sharks.

Raubenheimer en De Klerk drop down to the substitutes bench, while Rhule and Vermeulen miss out altogether.

The new players in the starting team are wing Piet Lindeque, loose forward Oupa Mohoje, lock Freddie Ngoza and prop Schalk (Hond) van der Merwe.

Trevor Nyakane moves from loosehead to tighthead prop to make way for Van der Merwe, who was a replacement against the Sharks.

Kick-off at the Free State Stadium is at 17:05 on Friday.
