Catrakilis set for WP return

Cape Town - Western Province flyhalf Demetri Catrakilis is set to make his return to the playing field when they tackle Griquas in a Currie Cup game at Newlands on Friday.

Catrakilis, who was WP's hero when they won the Currie Cup last year, recently signed a new two-year deal with the Cape side after representing the Kings earlier this year.

According to Die Burger's website, the 24-year-old has recovered from a shoulder injury he suffered playing for the Kings in their Super Rugby promotion-relegation match against the Lions on July 26.

Gary van Aswegen has a slight knee injury and coach Allister Coetzee hinted that he won't risk him against Griquas. Kurt Coleman is the other flyhalf in the squad.

Van Aswegen played well when he replaced Coleman in WP's 29-18 win over the Blue Bulls at the weekend, and the plan would have been to let him start against Griquas.

However, Catrakilis is now likely to fill that void on Friday (19:10 kick-off).

Gotta feel for a guy like Coleman.he has played good rugby but welcome back Demetri!

Coleman has given us good service so far - he helped Province to the top of the log. We are blessed with good options at 10. Time for Dimitri to pull his weight too. Welcome back and enjoy!

Yeah, but I think AC is having a brain fart, like he has been having for a while now. Substituting when players are doing well(Kitshoff for Carr), Groom for Scheuder and Van Aswegen for Coleman when clearly Coleman has been improving with every game and is showing signs of confidence with the game time. Demitri is a journeyman flyhalf, not great , but not bad. Coleman has been showing far better form though!

Nice position to pick and chose and rotate players. The horrific injury list of the Stormers/WP the past few seasons has had a big influence on all these guys coming through.

his heart will still be with the Kings .... he'll never forget how WP/Stormers management/coach rather wanted Webster Elton J than him ... BIG FAIL!!!!

You got that wrong! Elton was hired after Demitri signed for the Kings - fact! WP tried to keep him. The decision was his and his alone. Demitri was one of the Kings first signings. Money talks! Get your facts right son before you shoot from the hip!
