Cape Town - Western Province coach Allister Coetzee will keep flank Schalk Burger on the bench for their Currie Cup clash against the Golden Lions at Newlands on Saturday.
Burger returned to action after a long injury layoff when he played the last 20 minutes of WP's 29-27 win over Free State in Bloemfontein last Friday.
"I'm being very cautious with Schalk," Coetzee told Die Burger's website.
"He is the first one to say that he is happy to just get through 20 minutes against the Cheetahs on Friday. We'll give him a bit more (game) time this week."
WP are currently unbeaten after eight rounds of action and a win over the Lions would seal a home semi-final.
They do, however, trail the first-placed Sharks on the overall log and the last round-robin game between these foes in Durban could determine who finishes top of the table.
Kick-off against the Lions on Saturday is at 14:00.
