Bulls hold onto Flip

Pretoria - Springbok lock Flip van der Merwe has extended his contract with the Blue Bulls to 2015, the union announced on Wednesday.

Van der Merwe, who signed an extension until October 2015 was among seven players staying with the Pretoria side for the foreseeable future.

Fullback Jurgen Visser, Junior World Cup winning centre William Small-Smith, Blue Bulls Under-21 players Rudi van Rooyen and Nardus van der Walt also signed on until 2015.

Scrumhalf Rudy Paige and prop Morné Mellett would be playing rugby in Pretoria through to 2016.

Blue Bulls high performance manager Xander Janse van Rensburg said he was pleased with the quality of the players staying at Loftus Versfeld.

"All of the players have been identified to play particular roles in our vision and future planning," Janse van Rensburg said.

"So it is very pleasing they all agreed to stay on.

"We have not changed our vision to remain a leading franchise in domestic and world rugby and remain committed to be a team of choice for some of the best players in the world."
