Carter wishes baby Biff well

Cape Town - All Black flyhalf Dan Carter has congratulated Proteas Test captain Graeme Smith on the birth of his son, Carter McMorrin Smith.

"Congrats guys #LOVETheName, Dan Carter tweeted.

Smith confirmed via Twitter on Monday that he had become the father to a son, tweeting: Myself and @MorganDeane welcomed our boy Carter McMorrin Smith into the world today! 3,2 kg mom and baby doing well.so excited.????

Smith married Irish singer Morgan Deane in August 2011.

Their daughter, Cadence Christine Smith, was born July 25, 2012.

Smith, currently sidelined with an ankle injury, will not form part of the Proteas' ODI and T20 tour to Sri Lanka, starting on July 20.

He is however expected to make his return for the Pakistan series in the UAE in October.
