Carter benched for Crusaders

Cape Town - All Blacks flyhalf Dan Carter will come off the bench for the Crusaders in their pre-season match against the Hurricanes in Eketahuna on Saturday.

Carter, who continues to struggle with a calf strain, will play second fiddle to Tom Taylor who starts in the No 10 jersey.

With Willi Heinz ruled out of the season with a horrific leg injury suffered in the Crusaders' previous warm-up match against the Highlanders, and Andy Ellis' return from Japan still a couple weeks away, unheralded Billy Guyton steps in to fill the void.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
