Care fined over drunken arrest

London - England international scrumhalf Danny Care has been fined an undisclosed amount by his club Harlequins after being arrested following a drunken altercation, his club confirmed on Wednesday.

Care, 24, who missed this year's Rugby World Cup through injury, was arrested by police at the weekend following Harlequins' 21-10 European Cup loss to Toulouse.

The number nine was later released without charge after paying a fixed penalty fine. Care was given an informal reprimand by interim England coach Stuart Lancaster but has escaped disciplinary action from the RFU.

Harlequins director of rugby Conor O'Shea said the club had sought to resolve the issue swiftly ahead of this weekend's return fixture with Toulouse.

"We have a crucial (European) Cup match at the weekend in Toulouse, so it was important we acted quickly," O'Shea said.

"We take it very seriously. However, from the club's point of view a line will be drawn under the incident and we will get on with our preparation for the match," he added. "Danny has apologised to his team and understands fully what is expected of him."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
