WRAP: Cape Town Tens 2011

Cape Town - The third edition of the hugely popular and successful Castle Cape Town Tens took place at Hamilton’s Rugby Club in February 2011.

56 rugby teams participated along with the popular South African and International Legends Team. Legends playing in the tournament included Warren Brosnihan, Dave von Hoesllin, Breyton Paulse, Bob Skinstad, Jake Boer, Hanyani Shimange, Rob Fleck, Leon Lloyd and Shane Byrne.

The tournament was divided into three divisions: The social Beer league, the Vets league, and the serious Premier league.
The results for the weekend were as follows:

The Premier division was won once again by the Maties from Stellenbosch, who took on the local favourites UCT Ikey Tigers.
The Vets division final was the one the expectant crowd had been waiting for. The CNCF International Legends team managed to beat the Elan SA Legends 10-7.

In the Beer division the Maties Cravens side won against False Bay Rangers.

With three playing fields and more than enough space to have a beer with friends in the various marquees, the new two day format for the tournament seemed to have met with much appreciation by players and spectators alike.

British band The Lightyears and Cape Town band, Me and Mr Brown were on sensational form in the beer tent after the various finals, with players and spectators partying  the night away.

The Castle Cape Town Tens team would like to thank all the spectators for a fun filled weekend and the support- see you next year.
