Maties bring home the bacon

FNB Maties, back-to-back Varsity Cup champions, defended their Premier League title at the Castle Cape Town Tens, beating Hamilton's 19-12 in a physical final on Sunday.

The Men from Stellenbosch were full value for their victory, which was clinched on the stroke of full-time when they hacked ahead and collected to score the winning five-pointer.

The Maties squad was made up of all their non-Varsity Cup players - all of whom are over 25 years of age - and captain Bennie Booysen (pictured) was once again delighted to lift his team's trophy, or rather their Fender guitar, as they were crowned champions of the Castle Cape Town Tens for the second year in succession.
