Bulls welcome new additions

2012-11-01 21:02

Pretoria - Bulls coach Frans Ludeke has welcomed the confirmation that Lionel Mapoe and Callie Visagie will be on loan to the Pretoria side for the 2013 Super Rugby season.

Mapoe, who has just been named as a Springbok tourist for their three-Test match tour to Ireland, Scotland and England, will join the Bulls in December, while Visagie will be part of the pre-season group, which will assemble in Pretoria on November 19.

"The fact that Lionel has just been named a Springbok is well-deserved and proof of his abilities. His pace, attacking mindset and versatility will be a tremendous asset to the Bulls in what will again be a very long and taxing season on the players. He will also add depth to our outside backs department," Ludeke said.

He was also impressed by Visagie this year.

"He will bring a lot of physicality to the pack, but is also a very intelligent rugby player and a good leader. Hooker is a very technical position and to have someone of Callie's skill and expertise available, will help us a lot."

Ludeke thanked the Golden Lions for the use of the two players.

"It is clearly being done to benefit the players and that is a very noble thing to do. One can only hope that the experience picked up by being involved with the Bulls will benefit all around," Ludeke said.

Welcome to the home of Rugby.

      chrisin.oz.1 - 2012-11-02 04:18

A home has furniture. So if that is supposed to be the home of rugby, where is the furniture? And no, a home with one small piece of furniture is still an empty space. Hou jy by met wat ek se pinkmasjien? Of moet ek verduidelik.

      gerrit.vanbreda1 - 2012-11-02 07:26

Isak, as ek reg onthou het die bulle die o/21 beker gewen, so ook 0/13 en 0/18 craven week.

      chrisin.oz.1 - 2012-11-02 07:39

Pink Raven. Yes I keep on forgetting it. Probably because it is so long ago in the past.

      arnold.coetzee - 2012-11-02 08:26

Ja Isak die WP het soos ware BULLE GESPEEL

      lean.sadie - 2012-11-02 13:28

How so Raven, Chiefs won it last year, and Crusaders have won it more than twice of your old bulls team. If it is permanent anywhere it is there, sorry to burst your bubble, again!!!!!

  • Priesterb - 2012-11-01 21:12

Looking forward to the new season! New players, a new team in the Spears / Kings, some changes to the rules and most off all, kicking the Stormers / WP asses!! Gaan lekker wees! Blou Bul Groete!!

      steven.rhode.311 - 2012-11-01 21:31

Hahahahaha!! Jy reken?? Julle kon dit maar net 1 uit 4 keer die jaar doen.. Maar swak jong!!!

      frigo.donnerweer - 2012-11-01 21:32

Kicking the stormers asses? Just like all the awards you got tonight?

      chrisin.oz.1 - 2012-11-02 04:21

How will the new rules benefit and help the Bulls kick the Stormer's asses? We all know that he Bulls are still struggling to come to grips with the rule changes made in 2007. The new rules are there to promote faster rugby with less kicking. The new rules might just cause the Bulls to be second from the bottom of the S15 log - only above the Kings.

@caravan, Nope not all the unions, only the backstabbing hillbillies.

      braam.groenewald.39 - 2012-11-01 22:12

NOTHING hypocrite about that as the bulls didn't vote against the lions, and the next week make it clear that they will gun for the lions players....... unlike the spineless and cowardly stormers

      vanrooyenmara - 2012-11-02 05:39

  • Nighthawk.Wild - 2012-11-01 22:19

These guys will feel so much at home with the Bulls that they don't want to go back.

  • chrisin.oz.1 - 2012-11-02 04:16

There goes Mapoe and Visagie's careers down the drain. On the bright side for them, they will become permanent fixtures in the Bok team now.

      nico.prinsloo.92 - 2012-11-02 05:57

"One can only hope that the experience picked up by being involved with the Bulls"....experience om pienk te dra? ;-)

      chrisin.oz.1 - 2012-11-02 07:44

PinkRaven. Example: Morne Steyn. His career is over. Yet he is still in the Bok team. Undeservingly so. So, no contradiction on my part. You just don't understand what I'm saying. Bottom line: Gratis Bok-baadjies vir Blou Bul maatjies.

      tertius.devereaux.1 - 2012-11-02 13:24
