Uncapped Etrillard, 26, who was one of 19 Test rookies included by coach Fabien Galthie last week, was carried off on a stretcher with a leg injury during Toulon's European Challenge Cup victory over the Scarlets on Saturday.

New Caledonia-born Mauvaka, 23, made his Test debut against Scotland in August before being an unused member of Les Bleus' World Cup squad.

Racing 92's Camille Chat and Mauvaka's Toulouse club team-mate Julien Marchand are the other hookers named by Galthie for the tournament.

France start their campaign by hosting England at the Stade de France on February 2.
