Brian Liebenberg calls it a day

Paris - Former French international centre Brian Liebenberg announced his retirement on Tuesday after Stade Francais refused to renew his contract.

The 32-year-old South Africa-born back - capped 12 times by his adopted country between 2003 and 2005 - said he would take a coaching course and also set up a travel agency dedicated to South Africa.

"My career as a rugby player is over," he told website rugbyunit.com.

"Because of a succession of injuries I wasn't fit to play on. My contract therefore came to an end on November 11."

Liebenberg, who was part of the France squad that reached the 2003 World Cup semi-finals, won three French titles with Stade Francais in 2003, 2004 and 2007.
