Bok in alleged bar brawl

2012-02-21 09:25

Bloemfontein - The Springbok and Cheetahs prop Coenie Oosthuizen has allegedly been involved in another fistfight in a Bloemfontein bar.

Oosthuizen allegedly heard two men having an argument when he stepped in uninvited and started pushing and shoving one of the men.

“He pushed me and said he would p**s me to death,” one of the men said. “He’s done it before.”

In 2009, Volksblad reported on another incident involving Oosthuizen where he allegedly broke a student’s jaw. Oosthuizen denied the allegation.

In the latest incident the owner of the bar Barba’s had asked the two men to leave the premises when Oosthuizen stepped in.

“We weren’t even out the door when Coenie came from behind and threw a punch at my friend,” the man said. “When he fell, Coenie sat on him and hit him repeatedly.”

After the alleged incident, Oosthuizen apparently got in his car and drove off.

The 23-year-old who was assaulted hails from Bloemfontein and is currently living in Pretoria.

“I’ll consider legal action after I’ve seen the security footage.”

Michael Horak, Cheetahs assistant coach, said the rugby union did not have any knowledge of the alleged incident.

“We can’t get a hold of Coenie,” he said.

Hey Michael what happened to your "I gives anger management classes" comment? Did you delete it after we pointed out that you corrected someone elses grammar before then screwing up on your own?

      Dwerg - 2012-02-21 12:06

“He pushed me and said he would p**s me to death,” one of the men said. “He’s done it before.”... so the guy who has been killed before said that Coenie said he would do it again? The Free State is a damb tough place to live

      Lionel - 2012-02-21 11:27

      LOL@Saffa,great profile Pic hehehe

      Dewald - 2012-02-21 11:34

When you guys write stuff like this - do you sit back afterwards and actually look at what you have written? About someone else? And what it says about YOU?

      Saffa - 2012-02-21 11:37

@Dewald, I look back and ask the stars WHY this country has lost the ability to LAUGH at itself........all colours, languages and creeds. If one CAN'T laugh at stereotypes, and we become soooooooooo precious about our culture, we might as well close up shop as a nation.....

      Dewald - 2012-02-21 11:51

Saffa - I am just asking here. What is the need for a stereotype? If I stereotype all people down under as sheep shaggers - certainly that is not a fair comment and some Australian people will feel hurt or angry. Or I stereotype all Saffa's as oppressors and land thieves - surely it will hurt or make angry? I can not see the value of stereotyping. (Unless it is designed to hurt and make angry..?)

      Saffa - 2012-02-21 11:59

@Dewald - within SA rugby (and international rugga) stereotyping and badgering of teams/fans/players is a huge part of what makes the sport so special. Aussies for example are in NO way offended by being called sheepshaggers, they laugh it off and come back with a solid and BETTER retort (then they will buy you a beer once the game is over). People are too precious.............never mind charity beginning at home, LAUGHTER should.

      Dewald - 2012-02-21 12:03

Saffa, I remember Riaan (cannot remember his surname) saying something about aussies and sheep at Loftus. The aussies did not react the way you say. Did he not lose his job?

      Saffa - 2012-02-21 12:04

Lighten up @Blueraven - Class monitor and forum prefect is sooooooooooooooo not your look. Try pink....

      Saffa - 2012-02-21 12:14

@Dewald - The Aussies are the BIGGEST sledgers in the world - players, admin folk and fans.....They dish out with the best of them, and TAKE it with the best of them. Stereotyping in the sports world is not exactly 'searching all Muslim passengers - and ONLY Muslim passengers before boarding an aircraft' - THAT would be negative stereotyping. Calling the majority of Bulls fans clutchplates is NOT steroetyping meant to harm or hurt - it's just the truth. Take this banter away from rugby (for fears of hurting those with sensitive souls....) and you might as well call rugby foozeball.

      marnusmnorval - 2012-02-21 13:13

This is so typical bloemfontein. The boertjie/jock generation always hang out in the bars, get drunk, start a fight and run away.. I lost all my respect for the big impatient oath

      Theprodigy - 2012-02-21 14:17

  • Karlheinz von Bentheim - 2012-02-21 10:06

    Roid rage?

      Shistirrer - 2012-02-21 10:20

      Probably boosted by kommin. - 2012-02-21 10:22

Maybe a case of just enough brain power to scrum and fight. Oh wait he can't scrum, he was the most penalised player in the 2011 S15.

      Hanjo - 2012-02-21 11:00

Andre, Coenie achieved the most pilfers(turnover at breakdown) in last year's super15, more than Pocock, Todd, Louw, Brussow, Mccaw, or anyone else... he essentially played as an openside flanker and a prop, and that is the reason he was the most penalized player in 2011. - if you take into account the amount of times he got penalized at the breakdown and the amount of successful steals he made, it gives you a slight indication of Coenie's amazing work rate on the field. add to that the fact that he's a great ball carrier, and recently made a few appearances on the Tight head side of the scrum...he has redefined prop play to some extent...there is no doubt Coenie is a future Springbok.

      Marcel - 2012-02-21 11:38

@hanjo:please go look at his penalty stats and you'll see that 85% of them are scrum penalties.

      Shistirrer - 2012-02-21 13:24

LOL @Saffa - Bootman, Dozey and Brannas take their kommin sommer net so on the rocks.

      Saffa - 2012-02-21 13:48

@Shistirrer - Bootman, Dozey and Brannas ARE the rocks....(oops, now I am going to get 1000 thumbs down, and a lecture on stereotyping, name calling and culture bashing....)

  • - 2012-02-21 10:18

WTH? The season is about to start and they can't get hold of one of their leading players???? Let's see how serious the Cheetahs are about punishing this guy if it is proven that he did it. We all laugh at the aussies and their druken behaviour, let's not make ourselves the laughing stock now.

      Hallo - 2012-02-21 22:08

IF he is guilty and if Cheetahs attitude is anything like the Pumas towards convicted violent felons he will be given a blow job upon returning to training.

  • Cheslyn - 2012-02-21 10:27

Maybe it was Coenie who assaulted Kurt Dhaar-in (due to Dhaar-in fiddling with Amore whilst Joost was away), in the parking lot, as he was walking to his car LOL. Coenie jou Kal-Coen! Hoop jy word geskors!

  • Jonathan - 2012-02-21 10:32

  • marnusmnorval - 2012-02-21 13:16

  • Frans - 2012-02-21 16:12

"Weren't out of the door when coenie came from behind"......... for what i'm asking, just because his a well known rugby player? How common,if not an alcohol problem then may be a threatening one should be dealt with at this stage. He should be punished by his union where he feels it most, in his pocket.

  • Frans - 2012-02-21 16:18

Hanjo i 'd love to know where you got your stats from?

  • Frans - 2012-02-21 16:26

Di be more exact, don't like your reference to dutchman one bit, language is not applicable here.

  • anton.labuschagne - 2012-02-21 20:56

You are all a bunch of Spineless morons , ....never lost your temper never got into an argument ? Now you want to blame it again on the Dutchmen ? At least he is playing good rugby , much more that any of you could say , It's one thing to joke ( I do have a sense of humor) but to justify your own inabilities to achieve anything in life except for negative comments on a webpage, proofs my point.
