Botha signed a three-year deal with Toulon in the summer but is currently sidelined after returning from the World Cup in New Zealand with an Achilles tendon injury.
Tests carried out on the 32-year-old early this week were positive, club president Mourad Boudjellal told a press conference.
"He's perfectly good for service," said Boudjellal, adding that Botha was "suffering from a simple Achilles tendon injury".
The 76-times capped international's contract officially started on November 1 and he is expected to return to training at the end of the year.
Argentine flanker Leonardo Senatore, 27, has also been signed as medical cover for compatriot Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe, who is suffering from a knee injury.
