Bloemfontein - Ultra-lean waistlines, washboard abs and rippling biceps aren’t the only things this Free State mother and son have in common – they’re also world-class bodybuilders.

Leonie van Jaarsveld (34) and her son Déwayne (19) have competed in international competitions and won numerous medals and trophies.

Last month Leonie and Déwayne flew off to the WFF championships in Singapore, where Déwayne took second place in the under-23 male bodybuilding category while Leonie came sixth in the Superbody Ladies Figure category.

Leonie, who owns her own gym in Welkom, says doing this with her son by her side has made it even more rewarding.
