Top 4 must-watch weekend sporting events

Cape Town - It's the weekend!

But the sporting world never sleeps, so hang on tight and be sure to watch these FOUR events (in no particular order)!

1. Absa Premiership

This weekend we'll see epic Absa Premiership clashes, which gets underway on Saturday when SuperSport United host Bidvest Wits (18:00) and then we see the heavyweight encounter between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium (20:15).

On Sunday, Golden Arrows take on a rising Baroka FC (15:30) and then Bloemfontein Celtic host second-of-the-log Cape Town City (15:30).

2. Australian Open

It's crunch time at the Aussie Open!

It's world No 1 v world No 2 as Simona Halep and Caroline Wozniacki will battle for a Grand Slam title on Saturday (10:00 SA time)

While over for the men's, Roger Federer is hot favourite to secure back-to-back Australian Open titles but a determined Marin Cilic stands in his way (Sunday, 10:00 SA time).

3. World Rugby Sevens Series

We're in Sydney!

The Blitzboks are the defending champions and will be looking to dominate the third leg Down Under.

The Cup final kicks-off on Sunday at 11:43 (SA time) with the Blitzboks hopefully featuring.

4. Proteas v India

The Proteas have clinched the Test series against Bangladesh after a dominating display in the first two Tests.

Faf du Plessis and his men will be looking to complete a whitewash over the world No 1 team, India.

Play at the Wanderers starts at 10:00.
