Losses in the semi-finals of both the Cricket World Cup and Rugby World Cup left fans tearing their hair out at both the Proteas and Springboks.

The continued court case of Paralympian star Oscar Pistorius for the killing of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, gripped the sporting fraternity not only in SA, but the world at large.
